THE IMPACT OF LEADERSHIP STYLES ON EMPLOYEE RETENTION
This study examines the impact of leadership styles on employee retention. Objectives include: (1) evaluating the effectiveness of various leadership styles in retaining employees, (2) analyzing the relationship between leadership and job satisfaction, and (3) identifying key practices that enhance retention. A survey design is employed to gather data from a broad population. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 330 is derived, ensuring comprehensive coverage. The case study focuses on the retail sector in Lagos, Nigeria, where employee retention is a significant challenge. The reliability coefficient score is 0.86, indicating high reliability. Findings show that transformational and servant leadership styles are particularly effective in enhancing employee retention, promoting job satisfaction and loyalty. Recommendations include developing leadership programs that focus on transformational and servant leadership skills to improve employee retention rates.
